2011 Booklist

It's that time again, when we tend to look over the year that's past and I agree with Julianna at Oh My Cavalier that a look back on one's reading can be a good way to review the year. So here is my booklist. While not the most impressive list, it is rather varied and I think does reflect things I was doing and thinking in 2011.

The New Black - Darian Leader
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
God knows how I got this far in life without reading any Jane Austen but thanks to a little motivation from Pip at Meet Me at Mike's I can now say that I have.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Graphic Novel
Everytime I felt I needed some balance during Austen I picked this up ; ) Also, this reminds me, I had a lot of zombie dreams this year...
The Secret of Chimneys - Agatha Christie
Every year Agatha Christie is on my booklist, this one came with me to Margaret River
Herakut - The Perfect Merge
Hi Fructose Collected Edition 2
PR3 - The Hallowed Seam - James Jean
The Creative Habit: Learn it and use it for life - Twyla Tharpe
Highly recommended for those looking to jog yourself out of a creative rut or just looking for new ways to approach your creative process.
Juxtapoz Handmade
The Elephant of Eastbury - Andrew Gates and Laura Mitchell
I had the opportunity to interview Laura Mitchell and talk about her artwork for this illustrated full-poem book.
Wonderwoman: Love and Murder - Jodi Picoult
Got this to read on the plane to England but read it before I even got to the airport.
The Shakespeare Secret - J.L. Carrell
Not my usual type of book but a friend gave it to me before leaving for England because she knew I was going to be seeing a show at the Globe. I was glad I read it because although the writing was not my style the author had done her research and there was some quite fascinating ideas about Shakespeare conspiracies.
Pleasure & Pain - Chrissie Amphlett
Read on the plane to England.
The Daily Practice of Painting - Gerhard Richter Writings 1962 - 1993
Lynch on Lynch edited by Chris Rodley
The above two books I just keep going back to, they are both wells of inspiration to me.
The Animal Contract - Desmond Morris
I was reading this at the time I was preparing for our exhibition, Beast for Thee in October.
Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne - Jake Smallman & Carl Nyman
On the Internet - Hubert L. Drefus
Cyber_Reader: Critical Writings for the Digital Era - Edited by Neil Spiller (currently reading)
The above two books hint at my Masters subject matter for next year.
Dracula - Bram Stoker (currently reading)
Another book I'm surprised I still hadn't read, so many books too little time! I picked up one of the lovely clothbound Penguin hardback editions that came out not so long ago.

So what did you read in 2011?
Do you have any recommendations for my 2012 booklist?
